Motion Activated Speaker System

Project Hero

Tools

Arduino, C, Solidworks, Sensor Integration

Duration

1 month

Overview

This speaker is designed to play a song randomly selected from a pre-downloaded list when a distance threshold value is crossed on a time of flight sensor.

Design & Fabrication

Design for the project was centered around being able to easily wire towards my speakers and arduino board, and having a symmetric design. During creation I focused on having keeping the geometry simple for ease of printing. Using the dimensions given from spec sheets on the speakers, arduino board, and ToF sensor; I was able to borrow those tolerances to create the mounting locations.

Control & Software

All software was written in arduino. Some libraries were used to interface with the ToF sensor nd MP3 shield that were connected to the arduino. A custom function was made to randomly select songs from the song list. For the CAD and arduino files, click here
